If a company will not tell you which of these applies to your job, they are not quoting — they are guessing.
Volume
Measured in cubic metres, not the number of boxes. It is the single biggest driver of the price.
Distance
Kilometres between the two addresses, plus tolls and driver time on interprovincial runs.
Access
Stairs, no lift, a long carry from the parking bay, or a truck that cannot get past the boom.
Timing
Month-end and the last Friday of the month are in highest demand. Mid-month is cheaper.
Services
Packing, unpacking, storage and specialist items are each quoted on top of the base move.
Special items
Pianos, safes, pool tables, gym equipment and large appliances need extra crew and kit.
Money questions
Quotes & payment
Three things: the volume of your goods in cubic metres, the distance between the two addresses, and how difficult the access is at each end. Stairs, long carries from the parking bay, and lift bookings all add crew time. We quote a fixed rand figure up front — not an hourly rate that keeps climbing while you watch.
Yes, provided the inventory does not change. If you add a second lounge suite the week before, we will re-quote and tell you before move day, never after. The only variables we cannot control are things like a lift breaking down on the day, and even then we discuss the cost with you before doing the work.
A 50% deposit confirms your date and the balance is due on completion, before offload. For long-distance and storage bookings we discuss terms with you when we quote.
EFT is preferred. We also accept card on site and cash. We issue a proper tax invoice for every job — useful if you are claiming a relocation allowance from an employer.
We can, from a detailed room list or a video walkthrough on WhatsApp, and that is accurate enough for most flats and small houses. For anything over three bedrooms we strongly recommend the free on-site survey — it is the difference between an estimate and a guarantee.
